Incredible Story

I received this email from a friend of mine and I thought it was worth sharing.

Incredible Story

In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University.

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.

He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed his stupid butt against the railing, killing him instantly.

I never realized when I started taking pictures professionally, that a simple thing such as a old chair would get me soooo excited. I've been wanting a wooden chair forever for sessions!! One that I could paint and make into something SWEET! Well that wish came through when I saw my favorite word in the entire world... FREE!! So I pull over and check out this chair that is actually in could structural shape and realize that there is not only one but TWO of these. One of which was smaller and perfect for a child. So anyways, I finally got the opportunity to paint it black and I need to distress it.
Onto awesome find #2. My mom said that she had this old antique "Wells Fargo" buggy seat that was made into a bench and asked if I wanted it. She also said that it needed to be tightened and re-painted. So I said HECK ya! I was already thinking of the super cute baby pictures that I could take on that bench. So I took my most and ever loving family and shot some test shots. I had the pleasure of taking Robert's pictures for his graduation announcement. He got to try out the "chair" as well. Maddie is posing the infamous bench that I've been raving about. Also I tried out my 1.8 aperture lens and thanks Jaime...I think this is my favorite one so far. So check these out and I need advice on which picture is the best of Roberto to put in his announcement..so vote my friends!

P.S. Rikki Pine taught me how to make hair bows for the very first time and these were some of the ones I made Friday night. It only took me 10 years of having girls to learn!! HAHAHA!

Argh!!

Ok I'm gripping for a minute.... Don't you hate the fact that when you change your layout that ALL of your linky- doos are erased? Why the heck can't Blogger fix that issue? ARGH!! Whew..I feel better.

{Convention}

I just love CKC!!! There's nothing like an excitement to make things!! Things that I didn't even have to try and think up. So the girls got together once again for convention. We arrived at the hotel on Thursday evening to check in. Well that was when the chaos started with the stupid hotel. They ended up charging the room for over double the full amount on 2 different cards. One of which was Deneigh's and she wasn't even there, but had secured the room with her card! So after arguing with them FOREVER they fixed the issue and we received 50 bucks off and a 50 dollar gift certif to their restaurant. So with that past us we headed off to Olive Garden and there Monica met us for some serious delicious food. So of course we had to pretend it was my birthday (which I had never done before) and they sang to me and I was VERY embarrassed!!!

Mistake #1..never let your sister stay over! That girl SNORED!!! So we didn't get any sleep what so ever.

On to classes on Friday. I took a chipboard album class called "My heart belongs to daddy" it was so stinkin fun!! I now need to take Robert out and take some pictures of him and the kids so I can finish and give it to him for Father's Day. I also took "A Family Thing" which I really didn't care for. After classes we met up with Amy, Monica, my bro David and we went for pizza and did karaoke!! We had a blast.

Saturday classes were also pretty cool. I did a "Pocket full of Cards" which was my favorite class of all the ones I took. Here's was we did.

So we had a ton of time to kill and we went and said howdy to Becky Higgins for a bit who is lookin so cute prego and all ..I should of scrunched down for this picture..HA

Me and Twylla also met Elizabeth Kartchner (scrapbooker of the year) while we were waiting for our last class.

Our last class was "Scheming Around" it was ok..but not my favorite. We used the Making Memories Silent Setter..and my review is in...I HATE it! LOL

So We shopped the vendor fair which is always awesome. I added to my love affair with buttons and but a ton!! I bought these metal spice rack thingy's from the family scrapbook studio and purchased the spice bottles from IKEA and wallah... a super cute way to store my obsession!

So there ya go... Convention 2008..WHOO HOO!

{Diary of a Mad Potty Training Momma}

Ok so we as parents share in the frustration of potty training. It's messy and plain TERRIBLE!! So my focus has been on Miss Maddie and getting her potty trained. First off she is the most stubborn child I have ever met. You can't tell her what to do and I swear that child is driving me M*A*D!!! So I'm going to start to journal her progression and we will begin with day 1....

1.Yesterday.

I'm cleaning the dishes and she says to me, "Mommy I pooped my pants." So I sigh and say, "lie down and let me change you." So we get that accomplished and I tell her to go please get a new Pull-up. {Refer back to the first paragraph} So I go about finishing up because I have to leave to take to kiddos to school and I had to sub at Edu-prize when she comes running up to me and says, "Mommy I pooped on the floor!" I was AFRAID to see what had happened, so as I slowly turn the corner into the front room, I see the horror which is one of the grossest human functions. I swear I heard the "Psycho" stabbing music as I saw the damage. Not only was "IT" on the carpet, it was diarrhea, and a whole LOT of it!!! I was soooooooo IRRITATED!!! So I tell Maddie to go sit on the toilet and finish! So I'm scrubbing the carpet all the while starring at the clock because I had to leave. As I'm cleaning a very proud and exuberant Maddie comes running saying, "Mommy! I pooped on the potty!!" I looked at her and with all the frustration that I felt at that moment, scrubbing the carpet down on my knees. So I just smiled a fake smile and muttered, "Good JOB!" So now as we tackle this evil thing called potty training, I've come to realize that in this short 24 hour period, that I really do think that I'm going to lose my mind. Goodbye sanity..it was sure nice knowing you....
